Winter Field Day is approaching fast and we are GO for this event!
If you are interested in operating, observing, or helping please contact me (Skip-KO2THF, hvrtaxi at hotmail.com<mailto:hvrtaxi at hotmail.com>) directly.  Sean-K4KBK passed me the names of those that responded to his e-mail (see names at end of this e-mail to confirm).  The purpose of this e-mail is to gather additional information on who may attend and what you want to do so we can prepare in advance, specifically if we need to identify additional antennas.  I will be sending a more detailed flyer out in the next few days.  For now, here is a quick summary.
Goals/Objectives – attendee interest supports that we will operate more in an emergency communications, learning, and fun mode rather than “contesting mode”. This aligns pretty well with the Winter Field Day organization’s intent though, so conducting “multiplier” activities would augment our QSOs.
Radio Operations:

The current plan is to operate two stations with end-fed half wave wire antennas for multi-band capability, at a minimum, plus a satellite station.  Please feel free to bring your own radio if you want to operate something other than an Yaesu FT-891.

We currently do not plan to operate through the night unless there is commitment from at least two people to operate overnight.  (The facility sponsor must on premise when we are on site, so we don't want to abuse that generosity)

Practice, Learning, and Collaboration – there will be information sharing on ARES/emergency communications and some equipment displays.  We will not have a formal build event, but if there is a topic you are interested in, please let me know and I'll try to line up some assistance. For example, this might be a good opportunity to learn how to configure and use digital modes.

Location: Alexandria Fire Station 210, 5255 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria, VA 22304

Parking: rear of the building.  Disregard “Do Not Enter” signs at the access road.

Friday – any Friday activity needs to be coordinated through myself or K4KBK due to the requirement to have our sponsor present.  We do expect staging and doing some setup Friday evening

Saturday - 0800 setup start. 1100 - 2200 (estimated) operations
     *
Sunday – 0800 - 1649 operations
