We had what turned out to be a decent net tonight with 12 operators in attendance and one struggling net control operator! It was not our biggest net but in view of Spring Break and Easter travel plans, it was a good showing. In the mix, we had a couple of brand-new members, many of the usual suspects and a very seasoned vet not heard from in a while. It was a pleasure to hear from all of them.
I pushed out a reminder of the joint Club POTA activity with the Arlington Amateur Radio Club set for Saturday at the Columbia Island Marina. The entrance to the marina is off the south bound GW parkway, south of Memorial Bridge. Drive in and all the way down to the water and turn right. You'll recognize the antennas protruding from the ground. The event starts at 8 and will run until at least noon and longer depending on the condition of the bands and number of attendees. Bring your own gear or use ours and get on the air. Weather is supposed to be absolutely perfect!
Pete, N2KFA, reported that he had been on EchoLink and chatting to a party in Stuttgart! Great job Pete!
Bryan, WD4ADF, announced another special net on 21 April @ 1930 hours on our 70cm repeater. He also mentioned our special net this week on 220 mhz. The repeater performed flawlessly but we only raised 4 people to participate. Expect that was in part due to the aforementioned family activities and travel.
Joe, KR4AHM, said he was looking for an authentic source for a Molex plug for his 991. I mentioned that I had bought extra power harnesses for several of my radios from our favorite candy store in Woodbridge VA.
Lastly, we had a new member inquiring about the details of our May 6 exam session at APD. Gary, KC5QCN, as lead VE, already has the information & registration info posted on HamStudy.org and has supplied the link here in case anyone needs it. https://hamstudy.org/sessions/67f42744de85c02ca7b9ffe8/1
