[Alexandria Radio Club Reflector] DMR repeater

Heh, I just went on a DMR adventure last evening and this morning.

I upgraded the firmware on my Anytone 878UVII Plus to attempt to fix an issue I’ve been having with it. I restored my cqodeplug (using RT Systems), and it could no longer connect to my hotspot!

So, I opened another cqodeplug using the new version of the manufacturer’s CPS (they recommend updating CPS and firmware at the same time). I got a message to the effect of: “Confirm that TXCC = RXCC for all channels” <yes> <no>. I had no idea what it was talking about, so I clicked “<no>".

Here was the issue:
The latest firmware has separate Color Codes for TX and RX! The manufacturer CPS accounts for that (I had to manually go in and modify all DMR channels because I had selected “<no>”). The real moral of the story here, though, is that RT Systems doesn’t have separate TX/RX fields for CC yet.

I love RT Systems… but, I have at least on data point of evidence suggesting they lag firmware updates a little bit :-)

Also, regarding a DMR programming training class: I’d be happy to participate! In my experience, it would have to be more of a workshop… b/c everyone would have different radios, and each radio would be slightly different. Basically, get everyone in a room with their laptops… and try to get them up and running on DMR.

I’ve found this book useful for general concepts, though: https://www.dxengineering.com/parts/rsg-wwdm

Ie, if you’re wondering “what are timeslots? what are color codes? …” — that book has your answers.
