CQ All-

It's that time of the month again to start looking for volunteers for the
June 2m and DSTAR nets:

DSTAR Wednesdays: 5, 12, 19 and 26 June
2m Thursdays: 6, 13, 20 and 27 June.

*NET NOTES:*
- For this month, the 2m NCS on the 30th of May is still *OPEN*. If you
want to take the net, please send me a note and it's yours for the night.
-If you are interested in becoming one of our new net control stations and
have had no previous experience in NCS duties, I will be willing to host
another round of training in mid/late July. In order for me to set the
course quota, I will need 4-6 students to make the training fulsome and
worth the time. Please send me your prospective RSVP by 1 June so I have
an idea who is interested in training. Additionally, for those of you who
are "graduates" of the the best NCS training in the DMV (according to
KQ4CMA), we would like to see you volunteering to take NCS spots! Don't
let that great training go to waste! If you're having issues with your
"shack" and you're getting spotty reception from your QTH to hit the
repeater, please contact one of our club "elmers" for an assist so we can
get you on the air with a "full quieting" signal into the repeater!
-For the most part, the QSY exercise simulating a failure with the 2m
repeater in April was successful. I plan replicating this exercise during
the month of June, th is time utilizing the 220 repeater as the alternate
machine to conduct the net. So this is your opportunity if you own a
Kenwood D74, D75, Yaesu VX-6R or a Baofeng with tri-band capability to use
it during that net. I'll announce the date once the NCS schedule is
published so you will have plenty of time to get your equipment ready for
that net.
-New net ideas... I've brought these up before, but I've interacted with
other clubs that conduct other nets such as a "New Hams Net" and a "Swap
Meet Net." If there are other nets you have observed other clubs
conducting to increase member engagement, I'm happy to hear those ideas as
well.
-And... if you're checking in to other local nets in the DMV, please take
the time to invite those hams to our 2m or DSTAR weekly nets! All licensed
amateur radio operators are welcome to participate in our nets. Also this
is a great recruiting mechanism to get "clubless hams" to join a club..
ours!

If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to reach out to
me. So in advance... thanks for volunteering!

73 and we'll see you down the log!
