[Alexandria Radio Club Reflector] July Net Control Solicitations And Other News...

CQ All-

It's that time of the month to start looking for net controllers for
July!!!   DSTAR Wednesday dates are 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 July.   2m
Thursday nets will be 11, 18 and 25 July (we will cancel on the 4th for the
Federal Holiday).    Of note, N8IK will not be available to take the DSTAR
net on this Wednesday night (19th) so need a backup controller to take over
as well as 3 and 10 July.

****REMINDER-ANNOUNCEMENT***  *This Thursday night we will conduct another
exercise simulating the degradation of the 2m repeater and will QSY over to
the 220 machine to conduct the net.  This will be the SOP for Thursday
evening:

-Sometime in the early part of the net I will call out "EXERCISE EXERCISE
EXCERCISE,"  announce the simulated degration of the 2m machine.  All
stations that are listening and have 220 capability should QSY to that
repeater and we will conduct one round of check-ins and comments on 220.
-I will need a backup controller (KQ4CMA... are you interested?) to assist
in getting stations over to 220 who have the capability.
-Once one round of check-ins and comments are complete, I will announce
that the 2m repeater is back up to full operation and all stations will
return to the 2m machine.  For Round 2, we'll pick up the stations that did
not check in on 220 and continue the net as normal.
-At the conclusion of the net I will return the 2m and 220 repeaters back
to normal amateur operations.

If there are any questions about this, or if you want to conduct a quick
220 check between now and Wednesday, please send me a note separately
listing your time and availability during the evenings for a quick QSO on
220.  The reason why we are conducting these exercises is to use the other
repeaters and to help ensure all of our equipment is ready to operate on
different frequencies if the situation demands it and still be able to
communicate with minimal disruptions.

NET CONTROL CLASS-  I've not gotten a lot of interest in this, so this will
be my last all call to see if there are at least 4-6 operators interested
in doing NCS training this summer, most likely in August.  If there is no
interest for the summer, I'll put out the ask again for a potential Fall
session in October.
