CQ All-
So we're getting to that time of the month again to start soliciting for
volunteers to act as net control operations for the 2m and DSTAR Nets for
the next several weeks. Looking for volunteers for the following dates:
2m: February 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th and 7 March
DSTAR (for N8IK): 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th and 6 March
NET CONTROLLER TRAINING- As a reminder, the net controller training is a
GO! We will use the week of 5 February for the training week. I'll use
the procedure we've done in past NCS training sessions. There will be an
online classroom session on Monday evening around 1900 and a practice net
(instructor run) around 2000, so please leave the 2m repeater clear for
about 30 minutes to conduct the practice net. On Saturday 10 February in
the afternoon there will be the student run practice nets. Since we have
four students, the total time to run those nets is anywhere from an hour to
90 minutes, I'll ask for the repeater to be clear of general amateur use
starting about 1300.
If there are any "stragglers" interested in attending the training or any
"elmers" willing to help out with traffic on Saturday, please let me know
soonest.
NET CONTROL COMMITTEE- If you were at the club meeting this month,
hopefully you noticed that the new club President has elevated some of the
club functions from a "point of contact" to a committee function. So I'm
looking for interested club members to join the Net Control Committee for
this year. There's been a lot of talk recently about utilizing our other
repeaters outside of 2m and DSTAR for net activity, and if that's the case,
I'm probably going to ask for people to volunteer as "band captains" to
help plan for alternate nets on the other frequencies. Also, it would be
great to have a variety of ideas on how we run our nets, should we have
other types of net offerings the club should have during the week. (ARES,
Swap Meet Nets, New Hams Nets, etc). Please send me an email if you'd
like to volunteer for the committee!
73 and we'll see you down the log!
