[Alexandria Radio Club Reflector] Cross platform data copy on RT?

I’m a fan of RT Systems software. I have a copy of their software on just about every radio I own.

Just being able to easily import from RepeaterBook was a welcome feature for me.

I was happy when they announced a version of their software for the new Kenwood TH-D75a. (Mine should be here in just over a week.) So sure, I grabbed it.

In prep for the 75’s arrival, I figured, I’d put in my collection of “usual suspects”. Local repeaters around home, Kaua`i, OBX, Lancaster, New Orleans, etc. Places where I use my radio on a regular basis.

It occurred to me it would be easy to copy the records from my Wouxun 9 HT to the Kenwood. Nope, nope, and NOPE. Copy the record on the Wouxun, paste in the Kenwood, and no go. NONE of the data pastes. TBH, it doesn’t even give me a “Paste” option in the Edit menu.

To be fair, that’s a pretty tall order. Radios organize data differently. One radio’s data for a repeater might well look very different than the same on a different radio. Still, I’d hoped RT had used a fairly standardized database schema internally and could at least copy common fields like frequency, name, offset, PL tone, etc. Nope.

Oh well. It was worth a try. (I understand there are some cases where this works, at least to a degree. For example, copying data from the D74 to the D75 apps works, but that wasn’t my use case. I wanted to go from Wouxun to Kenwood.)

Cheers,
