[Alexandria Radio Club Reflector] Excess gear mystery

Most clubs run 2 separate sites. One with the receiver and one with
the transmitter, with a UHF link in between. NVFMA does that. This
does cause some differences in coverage. Many clubs do not have
multiple sites, so they don't have a 6-meter repeater.
I wanted to simplify our setup and found a used duplexer for sale.
Like I said, the club did not pay a dime for it. 6 meter duplexer are
very hard to find because other than hams, California Highway Patrol
is the only organization using low band repeaters.
TxRx makes the cans for 6 meter duplexers. At Hamvention last year,
each can was around $4500. You need at least 4 of them to make a
duplexer. They are 6 feet tall and about 36 inches around. Not a
small item. But, I found a used one and snapped it up.
Then I found the equipment to conso;lodate our 6-meter repeater into
one unit and made that happen. Alexandria Radio Club is one of the
few clubs running a 6-meter repeater from one site. It works VERY
well. .
