I would like to invite the members of the Alexandria Radio Club to participate in a joint field radio event with the Arlington Amateur Radio Club. The event will have two purposes; it will serve as the monthly Day in the Park / POTA event that AARC runs and as a host event for Scouts Annual Jamboree on the air. To that end, I would request that anyone in the Alexandria Radio Club that has connections with any of the scouting groups; Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Sea Scouts or the Venturing group, reach out and invite them to participate, singly or as a group. Once we have some feedback on numbers of potential attendees, we will coordinate with Gary Sessums on the number and type of stations we will need to setup. A couple of stations from the members of the Alexandria Radio Club in addition to the two or three that Gary normally sets up will probably be sufficient. The event will be conducted at the Columbia Island Marina on Saturday 19 Oct from 0800-1400 hrs. Parking is plentiful and a full-scale restaurant with bathroom facilities is available as a part of the marina.
Please provide feedback on our efforts to reach out to scouting groups to me. I will identify a point of contact for this event in the very near future.
Thanks,
Sean

Further details on the POTA/JOTA event from Gary Sessums, Arlington Amateur Radio Club

The Arlington Amateur Radio Club (AARC) participates each year in the
Boy Scouts of America (BSA) annual Jamboree-on-the-Air (JOTA) event.

This year JOTA occurs during the 3rd weekend in October which is
coincidentally our club's monthly Day in the Park / Parks on the Air
operating event.

The AARC monthly Day in the Park radio operating event is held from
April through October to allow club members to set up and test field
antennas, conduct portable amateur radio operations, practice
operating in a field environment, and mentor new ham operators in the
art and skill of amateur radio.

This year on JOTA Saturday, the Arlington club will conduct our
monthly Day in the Park / Parks on the Air operating event.
