[Alexandria Radio Club Reflector] 2023 Armed Forces Day Cross Band Test

The annual Armed Forces Day Cross Band Test (AFDCBT) will be held on
Saturday May 13, 2023 to test two-way communications between military
radio operators and amateur radio operators.


The Pentagon Military Auxiliary Radio System (MARS) station will be
holding an open house during the event for senior DoD leadership.


The Pentagon MARS station will be operational from 1200 Zulu until 2400
Zulu / 8 AM EDT until 8 PM EDT using the DoD call sign WAR.


Station WAR will be operating using SSB, MILSTD110, RTTY, and CW.


A copy of the 2023 AFDCBT announcement is attached.


In addition to conducting two-way voice communications with the amateur
radio community, station WAR will be one of a limited number of DoD
stations broadcasting the Secretary of Defense (SECDEF) digital message.


If you currently have swipe access to the Pentagon, you are invited to
come and operate station WAR during the annual crossband test.


Club members wishing to volunteer to participate during the AFDCBT on
Saturday should RSVP by sending an email to kc5qcn at arrl.net .
