CQ CQ CQ-
Here's our NCS schedule for the 2 Meter nets for the rest of March until
Mid-April.
*DATE PRIMARY ALTERNATE*
3/16 N4ASX KE7VOU
3/23 KI4D KC3AOO
3/30 WD4ADF N8IK
4/6 WD4ADF WA6MPR
4/13 KI4BXU KI4D
Starting now, I will be asking for a primary as well as an alternate/backup
net control station to take the net each week, In the event the primary
volunteer is not able to take their assigned net, the backup controller can
step in and run the net for that evening. At our next club meeting in
April, I'll also start asking for backup controllers for the Wednesday
night D-STAR net, even though N8IK is usually the primary NCS station.
There was a question asked at the club meeting last night on whether or not
we could start repeater assignments each week for the "ragchew" session on
our alternate repeaters after the 2m net. That is an idea I will take
under advisement and ask club leadership on their thoughts about this,
especially since the after net ragchew is usually "dealer's choice" of the
assigned NCS for the 2m net.
TRAINING- The long awaited Net Controller Training class is ready for
presentation! The online class session will be on 20 March at 1900 with a
practical application exercise after the class. The practice net control
session on the 2m repeater will be on Saturday, March 25th at 1300. If
you're interested in attending the training or acting as an "Elmer" as a
station checking into the student run nets, please send me an email to
bryan.a.pettigrew at gmail.com by 18 March so I can get an accurate headcount
for students attending the online session and "elmers" helping out with
the Saturday student run nets. I will do the online class via Google
Meets, so, once you sign up, I will send you a meeting maker with the link
for the online session.
Depending on how many sign up for training, I will offer a second session
of class and practice nets in April.
NEW NET IDEAS- To help out with increasing club engagement, I've got ideas
on other nets we can conduct other than our regularly scheduled 2m and
D-STAR nets. If you have ideas on other types of nets we can hold during
the week or on weekends, please send me your ideas! I plan on presenting
these to club leadership soon, and I would like to present these ideas to
the membership during the April club meeting.
And thank you to all of our 2m NCS volunteers for bringing "Two Meter
Excitement" on Thursday nights for ARC!
