The July 14th club meeting of the Alexandria Radio Club will feature club
member Kenneth R. van Wyk, K0RVW, who will give a presentation on Winlink,
"Winlink Boot Camp- Getting Started". The presentation will cover the
basics of Winlink and how to get started, how to use Winlink with your
radio, VARA/FM and VARA/HF with Winlink, and all about Winlink Wednesday.

Winlink provides a way to send and receive email messages over radio
frequencies and is particularly useful in emergency and disaster scenarios
where traditional communication infrastructure, such as phone lines or
internet access, may be disrupted or overloaded. It is designed for use by
licensed amateur radio operators and authorized government and emergency
communications organizations.

Club members will have an opportunity to have "hands-on" experience with
Winlink during the workshop. Those interested in joining in the hands-on
session should bring their laptops, notebooks, or smartphones to the
workshop session. However, to in order to send/receive emails during the
workshop sessions, club members must have an activated Winlink account.

The activation process can be completed within a few hours or even minutes
if the necessary information is provided accurately and promptly. However,
the actual duration may vary and can take longer, especially during periods
of high demand or if additional verification steps are required. Please see
the attachment on how to register for a Winlink account.
