This note is to forward an email about registration for ham radio support to
the 47th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) sent by Mike Aimone, WA8AHZ, the ARRL
VA Section Affiliated Club Coordinator. About 150 hams are needed to
support this effort, so please register now to help the planning process get
started early. This year, the registration websites and processes are
different. See Mike's note for the registration website. MCM 47 will be on
the meeting agenda at the July 14th ARC club meeting where we will have a
chance to discuss how the club will approach some of the concerns Mike has
in his note, as well as other MCM support matters.

Subject: Marine Corps Marathon Ham Volunteers Registration Website
Select ARRL VA Section Club Presidents,
I'm writing you on behalf of the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) Hams leadership
team.
Please announce to your Club membership that the new MCM Ham Volunteer
registration website is open, and vigorously promote the Marathon as a great
way to give back to Amateur Radio. Once again this year, we are looking for
about 150 Hams to support radio operations. The MCM will be held on Sunday,
October 29th.
Ask your members to register via: https://hamcommunity.com/mcm-register. The
site provides a step-by-step registration process, and the website provides
a wealth of MCM Ham information.
Further, please help new Ham volunteers in your Club program their HTs for
the Marathon frequency plan, as well as provide them basic HT radio skills.
While the MCM Hams will once again offer an "All Hands" training session
prior to the Marathon, the more our newer Hams are skilled in basic radio
use, the easier it will be on race day! As we get closer to race day we'll
share the frequency plan with you. Historically, about half the Hams
supporting the MCM are new to the hobby.
On behalf of the entire leadership team, let's make MCM 2023 fun, efficient,
and most importantly, of service to the U.S. Marine Corps and all marathon
participants.
73,
Mike,
Michael Aimone, WA8AHZ
ARRL VA Section Affiliated Club Coordinator
