Kathy (Woodbridge), Gary (Arlington) & Don (Alexandria):
Might you share the following email w/ your membership to see if the Camp
Snyder folks can borrow a particular radio for use during a potential
International Space Station contact.
Thanks in advance....

All, I'm in the search of an IC-9100 to infrequently borrow to support
operations of an Amateur Radio International Space Station (ARISS) Contact.
If you have one to share, pse let me know at WA8AHZ <at> ARRL <dot> net.
We need to write the IC-9100 into our communications plan, and borrow it a
few times in the late spring/summer (probably on a Saturday) as part of our
system check out. Then when Camp Snyder gets confirmation of date and time
for an ISS contact we'd need to borrow the radio again probably for a couple
days in the latter half of 2023.
We have a robust primary ARISS ground station equipment plan locked in the
plan, just need the IC-9100 as part of our backup station. Our primary
ground station will use an IC-9700, and our Technical Advisor suggests our
back up station radio should be something different than our primary ground
station radio.
As background, Camp William B. Snyder, located in Haymarket encompasses
350-acres set aside for camping, and structured scout activities. The Camp
supports the entire National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of
America. The facility is open to Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers and
community organizations. The Camp's STEM shack, along w/ the Camp Snyder's
Amateur Radio Club, WA3WFA are lead for the ISS contact.
While we're focused providing the ARISS Program office our equipment plan
in the next couple weeks, if anybody is interested in hands-on satellite
communications experience, let us know and we'll incorporate some practical
training as well as hopefully recruit a few folks to help w/ the ISS contact
next summer. Just let me know if you're interested. No experience is
necessary.
Thanks in advance,
Mike
