Last night at our monthly meeting Sandy, KQ4DNE, brought to our attention
that this coming Tuesday, the 18th is World Amateur Radio Day. I have
included the event on the club calendar. Worldwide, every April 18, radio
amateurs celebrate World Amateur Radio Day commemorating the day in 1925
that the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) was formed in Paris.
During that period, amateur radio experimenters were the first to discover
that the short-wave spectrum - far from being a wasteland as many thought-
could support worldwide propagation. That discovery led to a "gold-rush"
toward taking advantage of this newly found short-wave radio propagation.
In grave danger of being pushed aside amateur radio enthusiast met in Paris
and created the IARU to support amateur radio worldwide.

Attached are ARRL posters that can be used to help commemorate World Amateur
Radio Day.
