I have not been asked by any served agencies for support, but this might be a good training exercise.

On 20 October 2022, at 10:20AM, as part of the Great Shakeout Earthquake Drill, practice one of the recommended protective actions listed at ShakeOut.org/dropcoverholdon <http://www.shakeout.org/dropcoverholdon> . This one-minute commitment may save your life and the lives of your family members. For more information, visit ShakeOut.org <http://www.shakeout.org/> .
The last major earthquake (5.8 magnitude) we felt in this region was 23 August 2011, and it knocked both units of the nuclear power station at North Anna, Virginia off line. Since then, we've had smaller earthquakes.
To see maps of seismic zones in the U.S., see https://www.fema.gov/emergency-managers/risk-management/earthquake/hazard-maps. It's not just the West Coast! In the midwest, there is the New Madrid Seismic Zone. There's also a smaller zone on the coast of South Carolina. The United States Geological Service has lots of nifty information on earthquakes at https://www.usgs.gov/programs/earthquake-hazards.
