In discussions with Alexandria Radio Club members who use the DSTAR
repeaters, we have decided to keep our DSTAR voice repeaters
configured in the following manner:
A module (23 cm) - Linked to Reflector 001C
B module (70 cm) – Linked to Reflector 030C
C module (2 meters) - Linked to Reflector 062C
For working DX, the A and B modules are available. The C module is
intended to be used for local/regional communications.
We have been having issues on the C module with operators
disconnecting the C module and leaving it disconnected or connecting
the C module to Reflector 001C or Reflector 030C at the same time the
70 cm or 23 cm repeaters are already connected and leaving connected..
This causes problems for the reflectors because there are a fixed
number of repeaters that can be linked to the reflector at the same
time. When two of our repeaters are linked to the same reflector at
the same time, that denies access to another repeater that may want to
join. Both Reflector 001C and Reflector 030C are very busy reflectors
with a lot of activity and a lot of repeaters linking to them.
If you want to link the C module to another reflector, feel free to do
so. but, please be sure to put it BACK on Reflector 062C when you
finish. Two meters is the go-to band for emergency communications, so
we leave it on Reflector 062C in order to communicate with other
stations in the Mid-Atlantic region should the need arise.
