Alexandria Radio Club invites you to participate in our ARRL Field Day 2021
at Joseph Hensley Park (see attached map) on June 26-27th.  Field Day setup
starts at 10:00 a.m. and on-the-air operations start at 2:00 p.m. (see
attached hours of operation).  We need volunteer help for setting up
operations, station on-the-air operations, take-down operations, and in
particular safety and administrative operations.  Please reach out to help

The Field Day 2021 club briefing was presented by Ian at the June meeting on

haring. The briefing began with a discussions of club concerns about
COVID-19, the safety of attendees, and safety precautions developed by club
leadership for Field Day.  Field Day safety precautions are:

 

*	Fully vaccinated attendees can remove masks, but masks are
preferred, if not social distancing
*	Partially or unvaccinated attendees are strongly encouraged to wear
masks with social distancing as a health precaution for everyone
*	Those who are ill should not attend
*	No food or beverages will be provided by the club, except for
bottled water
*	Hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes will be provided by the club
*	Field Day 2021 safety officer duties will include a focus on health
safety precautions
*	Make sure to sign in  --  beyond ARRL attendance reporting, the
sign-in roster will be used in case there is a COVID-19 problem

 

Although the COVID-19 state of Emergency in Virginia will be lifted on June
30th, some safety precautions will still be in effect.  Our Field Day safety
precautions were developed with state guidelines in mind.  COVID-19 concerns
also lead to a decision not to invite the general public in order to limit
congestion.   

 

Please consider that our In-person Field Day 2021 planning was conducted in
a compressed timeframe.  Significant COVID-19 restrictions led to an early
decision to conduct a virtual Field Day.  As COVID-19 restrictions began to
swiftly change, reconsideration led to planning for an in-person Field Day.
Quickly, decisions were made for Field Day station class and station team
leads (see Team leads attachment).     

ARRL Field Day is our club's biggest outdoor event of the year, as it is for
most amateur radio clubs.  We are hoping that our members will return to
Field Day this year as in past years, especially because an in-person Field
Day was not possible in 2020 for the first time, ever.  For more detailed
