[Alexandria Radio Club Reflector] Alexandria Radio Club will be at National Night Out (Tonight)

Alexandria Radio Club will participate along with Alexandria Community
Emergency Response Team (CERT) in celebrating National Night Out tonight
from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the city of Alexandria.  We are inviting club
members to visit our exhibit in Del Ray at Pat Miller Square, intersection
of Oxford and Mount Vernon Ave; we will be displaying the club banner.  Club
members Rick Bunn (N4ASX), Sean Gallagher (KO4QQY), and I will represent the
club and will be wearing our club safety vests.  We invite club members to
listen for us on the club 2m repeater, as we will be operating a portable
station at that location.  We will also be distributing our club literature
and talking to the public about the importance of amateur radio during
emergencies.  Fire/EMS Chief Corey Smedley, whom we know, and other city
officials concerned with City safety and security will also be out
celebrating this annual event.  City residents are encouraged to turn on
their porch lights and meet with their neighbors to help celebrate this
event.
