This note is to address any lingering concerns or questions that members of
Alexandria Radio Club (ARC) may have regarding the safety of using Zoom to
attend monthly club meetings.

The United States Computer Emergency Response Team (US-CERT) constantly
publishes a list of security vulnerabilities affecting a variety of IT
platforms reported from around the world. During the spring of 2020, CERT
reported Zoom as having vulnerabilities along with many, many other
platforms in common use today, including Windows and Apple products. The
Zoom company has constantly issued updates to address reported
vulnerabilities in its platform, as have other companies. As a consequence,
neither US-CERT nor the FBI are currently reporting any alerts or warnings
regarding the use of Zoom for routine use. Those are the two most
authoritative U.S. organizations that report vulnerabilities of IT platforms
for public consumption. However, US-CERT stresses the importance of making
sure that the most recent updates of software are used.

Regarding encryption, neither encryption or encryption keys matter when it
comes to ARC club meetings because there is no club meeting information that
needs protection. Because of this, our recorded meetings may be published
on the worldwide Internet.

President, ARC
