Hi Gary,
Perfect timing for me. I recently came into possession of a Zenith
Trans-Oceanic, model D777Y, c.1974. I wouldn't place it the category amateur
equipment; but it's close. My ZTO "works'' (all solid state) but needs
overhauling. My first encounter with the ZTO was when I was 9. It was July
26, 1956 when the Andria Doria and the Stockholm collided off Nantucket
Island. Our family was on vacation on Martha Vineyard and we could hear
real-time transmissions between the Coast Guard and other rescue units. That
old vacuum tube ZTO radio really placed us at the right spot!
Might you know of a club member or other who could overhaul my radio?
