[Alexandria Radio Club Reflector] ARC May 8, 2020 Club Meeting Recordings

Enclosed is a link to recordings of the Alexandria Radio Club Meeting
conducted Friday night, May 8, 2020.  In addition to the excellent
presentation on WINLINK by Greg Butler, KW6GB, we were honored by the
presence of the Honorable W. Craig Fugate, former Administrator of FEMA, and
ARC Life Member.  It was Craig, while FEMA Administrator, who said  "When
Everything Else Fails. Amateur Radio often times is our last line of
defense...When you need amateur radio, you really need them," which has
proven true, time after time, around the world.  We also had distant
attendance by Cameron, AL6A, Alaska; Lukas, WA3UEA, in Vecenza, Italy; and
Gene, N4JEE, Florida. 

 

The meeting was well attended with 47 participants.  It is hoped that Greg's
presentation will spark more interest in WINLINK and WINLINK Wednesday
participation that could result in our area having a reliable fallback email
system in case of catastrophic grid failures caused by disasters or other
unforeseen emergencies.
