Subject: [hfpack] Solar Cycle 25 sunspots flares HF propagation
Good news for HF propagation.
The worst propagation since HF radio was invented is now over.
It looks like Solar Cycle 25 has actually arrived now.
After a year of nearly zero sunspots, the average sunspots have increased, to about 14 to 20 sunspots.
There was also a small solar flare (Class B) on 8 August 2020 at 0400UTC.
HF propagation (F2) will slowly get better now and toward the end of 2020.
Look for increased DX, and especially North-South openings, on 17 MHz and 14 MHz.
We will see more Sporadic E openings this month.
Look for random 14 MHz to 50 MHz short skip openings starting mid morning and continuing into evening.
