If you have a Japanese radio, e.g., Yaesu, Kenwood, Icom, the machine
screws that hold the covers on are not #1 Phillips, they are JIS.  There is
a difference between them and a Phillips screwdriver will strip the head of
a JIS screw if the screw is torqued down.  You can tell if a screw is JIS
by looking at the head - there's a tiny dot between two of the slots on a
JIS screw.  This also applies to Japanese cars and motorcycles if you like
doing your own maintenance.
