Hello, Mike N4MJD here, long time lurking member of LARG and erstwhile member of SPARC.
I received a fake ransomware phishing email today that was sent to the email alias associated with my ARRL account. The good news is that it was fake -- I know my computer hasn't been compromised. The bad news is that I suspect ARRL has been breached, because the message contained my actual ARRL.org <http://ARRL.org> password, and it was sent in the subject line and body of the message.
I have contacted ARRL and asked to speak with someone in IT/Cyber Security. I left a voicemail message for whomever it was they transferred me to. But I just wanted to give you all a heads up that they may have been breached, and someone is sending out these ransomware demands.
You may want to change your ARRL password as a precaution if nothing else.
Thanks,
Mike Dow, N4MJD
