KV3W and I replaced the duplexer on the W4HFH 70cm DMR repeater today. The
old duplexer was a BridgeCom mobile duplexer with 80 dB of isolation
between ports and 1.5 dB of RX insertion loss,
https://www.bridgecomsystems.com/collections/uhf-duplexers/products/bcd-440-uhf-mobile-type-duplexer.
This is a nice duplexer for analog systems and we will retune it for the
TMARC SNP frequency. But for DMR we really needed something with more
isolation. The new duplexer is a 4-cavity Bird like the duplexers we use
in our DSTAR stack,
https://txrx.com/products/filter-products/duplexers/380-530-mhz-duplexers/28-66-02a/.
Better than the advertised specs, it has an impressive 111 dB of isolation
between ports and 0.59 dB of RX insertion loss. The difference is amazing
- no more desensing. I'll try to put some pictures together for the April
club meeting.
