A correction on times for the Virginia QSO Party. The Saturday hours are 10:00 a.m. to midnight local time. The Sunday hours are 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time. Pete will welcome visitors during the Saturday hours, and my station will be open Sunday.
Also, this is the first year that the club has done the Virginia QSO Party, and we don't know what to plan for refreshments. If you're planning to come, an RSVP would be greatly appreciated, but don't stay home if you didn't RSVP and find that you're free!

Techs & Friends:
As you may know, next weekend is the two-day Virginia QSO Party. This is an event hosted by one of the local radio clubs on behalf of the entire Commonwealth of ham radio operators. Every state hosts a QSO party sometime during the year and hams from across the US, and internationally use the opportunity of the QSO parties to flesh out their “worked all counties”, or even “worked all grid squares” during these state-sponsored events. I think of the VQP as a run up and practice for how we work during Field Day. Ever been on the transmitting side of a “pile up”? come join the VQP. WE in Virginia make this a “gentleman’s (and gentle-woman’s) pile up I might add.
This is mostly a HF contest, and of course you are very welcome to join Pete, K6BFA at his house at 500 Park St, NE, Vienna on Saturday after 10:00 am, or Doug, AK4AO on Sunday after 10:00 am at 3630 Camelot Dr, Annandale to participate in the VQP.
OR I have an idea: Why don’t you invite me (or one of my friends) to visit you at your QTH, and we’ll play radio from your shack. We’ll ride shotgun and do your logging and give you some tips on how to work a contest event. Don’t have a HF radio or antenna set up … let’s talk. Don’t have a license to be on HF .. that’s easy, we’ll be your “control operator” during the event.
WSY?
