This is an activity we've been supporting for as long as I've been a member. We do a few things:
1 - Collect changes in the order of March and send them to the reviewing stand. Last year CAP cadets acted as parade marshals and there my have been disconnects. We will fix that at the planning meeting.
2 - Provide some safety and and organizational communications, this is dependent on having enough hams to provide shadows.
3 - Provide APRS to track the beginning and end of the parade. Will need two operators with APRS HTs and a display at the reviewing stand.
We will use the club trailer at the parade start to collect order of march changes. We will update the file and can send it to the reviewing stand via D-Star or 9600 baud packet or AREDN.
Our club has over 60 members, please come out and participate.
Parade day Feb 18th
We will meet at the Fire Training Center at 9AM, where our trailer is stored to check in. Parking at the parade start is limited so we will carpool to the parade.
Some will set up at the reviewing stand, a few at the trailer and others will be working with the marshals or with the parade staff.
We will arrange for the use of the 146.655 repeater and use 147.315 both repeater and simplex as backup. If we need to, we can take parade organizers to UHF 446.025 simplex.
I will meet with the parade organizers soon and will provide more details.
