Hello Karen & Rick:

A couple of details as we start to slide into a challenging weather period and get closer to Parade Day!

First, I should tell you that we do have an established weather policy that has many contributors. Alexandria has the best risk and emergency management organization anywhere in the USA. So if we have to take any adverse action, it is because it is in all our best interests. If we decide to take action, we send an alert to you directly using the e-mail address on this message. After that, our decision is posted to the Status Page on our website at https://www.washingtonbirthday.com/status (in fact, it is a good idea, now, to tell the members of your marching unit about our website status page), and posted to the City of Alexandria website and to VisitAlexandria. Then information is sent to major media outlets around the region. So it won't be a secret!

Weather Forecast. We hope we will not need to do anything drastic...but we do want to keep watch on the weather. I like the Capital Weather Gang at the Washington Post. Their latest weather update for the days ahead is HERE.
