Meeting minutes for July 2019 ARC Meeting
Date: 7/12/2019
Time: 1900h
Location: Alexandria Police Dispatch Center
The July meeting program was provided by Jack Parker, W4JJ on operations in
Afghanistan and Don KI4D provided a run down on Field Day. I was not able
to attend, but I understand we spent a few extra bucks on our anniversary

GREAT job.

them programmed. He is also moving forward on the 444.9 MHz repeater to be
installed in the trailer.

your info (Name, Call sign and Grid Square location) and submit your scores
for the contests you play in. Contesting is one way we show that we are
using our frequency allocations.
Repeaters -
The club repeaters are all up and running. We will have to resume the
follow-on net on one of the other repeaters after the Thursday net on the 2
meter analog repeater.
I will have an update on our newly obtained Motorola MTR-2000 repeater at
the club meeting. It will be programmed for the TMARC shared non-protected
pairs (442.900 MHz) to be used at public service events such as GW Birthday
Parade. Since it is a shared non-protected pair, the plan is to use PL on
both the input and output. We will use the club standard (107.2 Hz).
As always, ham it up and get on the air.
73, Rich, KA4GFY
ARES
The City's EOC continues to develop. The City's radio shop is installing an
HF antenna and the two VHF/UHF antennas. The city purchased a Kenwood
TS-480HTX, a Kenwood TMD-710G and an ICOM ID-5100. When these are installed
we will have HF, 6 meters, 2 meters (FM/Packet/D-Star/APRS) and 440
(FM/D-Star/Packet/APRS) capability the antennas allow us to add 6 meter FM
and 1.2Ghz to the desk as well.
We have 14 volunteers out of a club of 83. We don't have a lot of
emergencies, but having a credible group is important. We expect to work
with CERT as Alexandria builds up it's CERT volunteer numbers, we also work
with Red Cross and Alexandria Hospital.
If you would like to volunteer, you do not have to have prior training, but
it is expected that within a reasonable amount of time you take the FEMA IS
100,200, and 700 classes. Each one takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
You can find the ARES volunteer from on the ARRL website or ask Rick, N4ASX.
