Dear Richard,
With less than 45 days until the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM), the runners are logging long miles and visualizing the course in preparation for their participation in “The People’s Marathon.” As a valued MCM volunteer, you can prepare for your essential support role at the MCM, as well, over these final couple months.
In the past, our Marines and volunteers have distributed 850,000 cups of water and 25,000 bottles of Gatorade. Medical teams have been issued 16,400 pounds of ice to provide to runners in need. Volunteers have personally handed out 160,000 safety pins at the Health & Fitness Expo presented by GE. Every volunteer position is highly regarded as important to the execution of this world class event.
You have chosen to volunteer alongside nearly 2,000 others to support the inspired missions of 30,000 motivated runners on October 30th as well as the days leading up to the big event. These runners hail from all 50 states, more than 50 countries, all branches of the military, as well as, the civilian world and all share the goal of crossing the finish line at the Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Virginia. You will help them get there!
By signing up as a volunteer, you have become part of the MCM team, espousing the impressive organizational skills of the Marine Corps while bringing energy, enthusiasm and spirit. It is a mission for which you are destined to triumph.
In October, the MCM will send additional details to prepare you for your call to duty. In the meantime, please review your assignment information included in this message. If it is inaccurate or if you are no longer able to serve, please inform our Volunteer Coordinator, as soon as possible. All-important MCM information is available at marinemarathon.com.
A hearty Marine Corps OORAH and thank you for committing to volunteer for the 41st MCM. Announce this endeavor to your friends as several volunteer opportunities still remain.
Semper Fidelis,
Marine Corps Marathon
