I'll start off with the disclaimer, I don't work for HRO.

If you had been interested in purchasing on of these 1.25 meter/33cm transceivers, but you were too late because the radio had been discontinued, here is your second chance.

No, Alinco is not manufacturing them again. However, HRO has bought the entire lot of about 400 Alinco DJ-G29's that were stored in a warehouse somewhere and no one knew about them.

So, our very own K5OTZ struck a deal with Steve (W4SHG) and Joe (N4JCS) at HRO for the Alexandria Radio Club. The suggested retail price on this batch will be around $150, about half what W9TCE, N4CWP and I paid at Dayton 2013 and less than one radio store is selling their remaining inventory.

Why am I posting this here? The Alexandria Radio Club has excellent repeaters on both 1.25.and 33 cm. Here is your chance to get on these two great bands for not a lot on money. The 1.25 meter band has to be the best-kept secret in ham radio. There is not much around it and its very quite. It also has great propagation characteristics. The 33cm band is good for short-range communications.

The DJ-G29 uses the same battery pack as the tri-band (2m/70cm/23cm) HT Alinco sells, the DJ-7(?). For a speaker mic, you'll need to buy the dongle for it, but any ICOM-compatible speaker mic works with the dongle.

You will need to call HRO directly if you're interested.

Let's get some activity on these two bands.

73,
Rich, KA4GFY
