[Alexandria Radio Club Reflector] "Fast" DD with Icom ID-51Plus and ID-5100

Howdy folks!

Icom has introduced a new "Fast" digital data capability with the ID-51
Anniversary Edition/Plus.  A firmware update was also issued for the
ID-5100 this week to enable the capability.

As you know, in traditional Digital Voice comms, there is a 1200bps data
only slot that is used to enable things like D-Rats and GPS positioning
data.  With this update, Icom now allows users to utilize the 1200bps data
slot as well as the 2400bps digital voice slot to nearly triple the total
data throughput.

Are there any other club members who have the 5100 or the 51plus that might
be interested in experimenting with this faster data via simplex, call sign
routing, and repeater operations one Thursday after the net?
