W4HFH will have a couple of tables so bring the stuff your XYL says must go!
Hello,
This is an unsolicited email, and I appreciate that people don't like
receiving spam, so I'll keep this short. I am writing to let you know about
Winterfest, a hamfest in Northern Virginia that is coming up this weekend.
This regional hamfest typically attracts 500-1000 attendees, with both
commercial and hobbyist vendors selling radio equipment at indoor tables and
at an outdoor tailgating area. The winterfest flyer
<http://www.viennawireless.org/flyer/wf2012_b.pct.pdf> has more details,
but here are the essentials:
* Date: The main event is on Sunday, February 26, 2012. Tailgating
starts at 6 am, the indoor sales area opens at 8 am. We are also running
amateur radio exam testing (VE testing) the day before, Saturday Feb 25,
2012 from 9 am to 12 noon at the same location.
* Location: Northern Virginia Community College, Annandale Campus,
8333 Little River Turnpike Annandale, VA. Talk-in on the 146.91 repeater.
Directions are available online
<http://www.viennawireless.org/wfdirections.php> ; GPS coordinates are
38.833216N, 77.236872W.
* Cost: Tickets are $6 at the door. Outdoor tailgating spots are $15,
and available the day of the event.
* Sponsor: This event is run by the Vienna Wireless Society
<http://www.viennawireless.org/home.php> , a not-for-profit ham radio club
located in Northern Virginia. This is an ARRL-affiliated event. The proceeds
from this event help support the activities of the Vienna Wireless Society,
which include community service, emergency preparedness, and technical
innovation.
If you do not want to receive mail about future winterfests, just reply to
this email, and put unsubscribe in subject line - we won't bother you next
year. With the cost of US postage going up, we did not send out post cards
this year, so this is an experiment to see if marketing via email is
effective. We will only send out one email each year to remind people about
Winterfest. This list is used for no other purpose and is not shared. People
receiving this email are those who we think are active in the hobby either
due to participation in their local club activities or on-air events, or who
are located particularly near the event.
Thanks,
Jack Welch, AI4SV
Vienna Wireless Society
