ARC members may find the following video link (which runs about 50 minutes)
of interest. This is from Episode 37 of HamRadioNow, and discusses the
topics of "A Hailing Channel for Packet, and New Ideas for Net44". For
those of us who were at Dayton this year, we saw an interesting booth where
the fellows from Universal Digital Radio were displaying their small
software type radio that would run DStar and AX-25 on 70 cm. The first
part of the video has Bryan Hoyer, K7UDR, of Universal Digital Radio
discussing using this radio box to implement a hailing channel for packet
radio, and the second part has John Hays, K7VE, discussing new uses of the
AMPRNet (44.xx.xx.xx)--the portion of the Internet devoted exclusively to
ham radio, and how it might could be used for future ham uses. Here is the
link:

There are some other video segments that follow this one involving APRS that
may also be of interest as well.
