As part of a simplex operation mapping exercise, we will conduct a simplex
net on Thursday after the regularly scheduled net. The purpose of this net
is to allow members interested in emergency communications to map who they
can communicate with under simplex operations.
I ask that the following conditions be satisfied for participation.
1. Please work from a fixed position (preferably, your home QTH or wherever
you are likely to participate in simplex operations)
2. Please use radio equipment and power levels that you are likely to use
during a simplex operation to help map realistic performance during such a
situation (higher power is better)
3. Please record a list of all stations that you can reliably copy to be
sent in after the exercise
At the conclusion of Thursday's regular W4HFH net, I will conduct a roll
call of those interested in participating. I will then turn net control
over to Rick N4ASX to conduct the simplex net. At that time, we will QSY
to *146.415 as a primary frequency*. If we find that frequency to be in
use, we will move to 146.550. During the net, Rick may ask for relays.
During simplex checkins, we will ask that you say a few words or a short
count to ensure everyone has enough audio to judge the quality of reception.
Upon conclusion of the exercise, I will ask that participants email me with
the list of stations they heard. I will then work to put together an
interactive map to be shared later. Thanks in advance for your
participation! I look forward to hearing everyone on Thursday.
