This Saturday from 10AM - 2PM, myself and Ian (N8IK) will be setting up two
HF stations in Ben Brenman Park for Newbies on the Air. Several other
experienced operators from the club will be on hand also to help.
This event is to give an opportunity to new Hams to operate HF radios and
ask all the questions they want without feeling the pressure of contesting.
We want to encourage any hams new to HF operation in our club to come out
and spend some time in front of the radios. This event is for you to come
out and get answers to questions like "What is RIT?", "How do I use those
knobs?", and "How does one contest anyway?".
We will have two voice stations (a Yaesu FT-897D and an Icom IC-706 MkII G)
set up and operating. Stay tuned for more information on lunch as the day
gets closer.
We will be operating from the same location that Field Day was held in the
back field at Ben Brenman Park (

)
I will be at the park at 9AM to start setting up, Ian will join us around
10.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at
KF7IJZ at gmail.com.
Thanks, and I hope to see our new operators on Saturday for the Alexandria
Radio Club's NOTA!
