Second Alexandria Foxhunt, Saturday 9 AM, June 18, 2011.
A foxhunt is a radio direction finding event. We will have one person go
to a random location in the City of Alexandria and transmit a signal.
Teams with direction finding equipment will attempt to locate the
transmitter. The "fox" will park their vehicle someplace in the City of
Alexandria and transmit with a mobile radio for one minute every five
minutes (one minute ON, four minutes OFF) on 146.490 simplex starting at
9 AM. The fox may not relocate to another location.
We need several mobile direction finding teams. Doppler DF units
preferred. We also need people at home stations with 2m beam antennas
that can provide bearings to the fox. Unlike a real transmitter hunt,
this one has some advance notice to prepare.
Positive replies only. This is not a pedestrian event in a park. This
is a county wide mobile foxhunt. This event is open to all interested
amateur radio operators. If you can't make this one, more foxhunts will
be announced during the year.
Thanks
Tim KT4MV
