Hello all,

With 100 degree heat, it's hard to think of what your going to
be doing on October 31st. The largest and most public event in amateur
radio is the Marine Corps Marathon. There has been a group of volunteers
working on the planning for this event from almost the end of last year's
marathon.

We need about 130 operators to cover this event. Whether you
have just a handheld or have piles of gear, we invite you to come out and
make use of it in support of the Marine Corps Marathon.

In order to meet the security requirements, get a good T-shirt /
lunch count and make the right assignments we need to have volunteers sign
up early. We will close the volunteer list by the end of August.
Assignments will be made on the basis of your volunteer requests, equipment
required for the position and your experience.

To sign up, please go FIRST to WWW.MARINEMARATHON.COM
<http://www.marinemarathon.com/> this tells the Marine Corps who is
volunteering. You will then be asked to go to another site where you will
tell the leadership team what gear you have, your vehicle information, any
limitations you have and your preferences.

Many of us are procrastinators, we volunteer at the last
minute. The MCM needs your support, but we need volunteers to step up and
sign up early so that we can better plan and make the right assignments for
everyone. This year there will be team leaders for each segment of the
course. Those who support mile markers, food stops, water stops, division
shadows will be either on the RACE A or RACE B teams. The team leads will
get together and make preliminary assignments based on your inputs and will
get back to you as soon as we can to make sure that your happy with the
assignment and are able to fill that assignment.

The course has not changed this year.

If you have any questions please ask.
