Hi All,
We have been asked to help with an 10 mile race on the GW Parkway. This
looks like a shorter version of the Potomac River Marathon. If you can help
out, let me know. I hope to have more info shortly. I was not able to make
the links work but will see what I can do.

RIck,
Sorry I took a while to get back to you. We had a meeting about the race
today and I am just getting back to my computer.
Thank you very much for even considering to assist us. I will try to answer
your questions in the order you presented them.
1. the race starts at 0800 but the Park Police get the roads closed early
usually around 0700 so I would say operators need to be in place at 0700. I
will provide placards for vehicles to insure they granted course access.
2. I plan to provide detailed maps and directions to each post early next
week. we would like one operator at the start one at each water stop (4),
and one in main medical in the finish area. One additional would be needed
for the Police Command area (to be determined)
3. Our plan is to place mobile medical staff at each of the areas listed
above. If we get a report of a medical issue on the course from any one of a
number of sources we can transmit that information over your network and
insure that the people who asist can get to a person in need.
4. you can work out of your vehicles or use your handhelds. That will be
your preference. This is a 10 mile race that begins at Mount Vernon and ends
in Old Town in Oranoco Park. I do not know if that distance makes a
difference to you but I figured I would pass it on.
Listed below is the link to the course for the 10miler below that is the map
of the 5k that takes place inside the same course on the same day

Let me know if you would like any other information other than the detailed
descriptions of the posts for the operators
my number is 571-238-6051
Thanks again for the consideration, Don

Don,
A lilttle short on notice, but I will see who we can round up. I need to
know some particulars on the race.
1- When radio operators need to be in place
2- A map of the course and where you want to place communications
3- Type of traffic you need us to pass and to whom
4- Can we work out of our vehicles or will we need to work with handheld
radios.
For Arlington, the lead should be the Arlington Radio Club and I will
copy them when I get home on this, but I will see how many Alexaandria
Amateurs we can line up.
If you want to call me I should be home about 9:30 this evening or after
7 PM on Friday.
Regards
Rick Bunn
