I'

Mike,
The date is I THINK October 5th. Count me in and if we can find
someone to tow the trailer it would be a good time to charge up it's
batteries and give it a dry run.
ALL, If you can help out this is a nice easy event. Those with 6
meters are encouraged as it works REAL well in the trees.

Yikes! Venture Quest snuck up on us again this year. I think we are up
to 8 or 9 years doing this event. I've lost count!

I finally head back from Jim Harman this week on what he needs. He said
the course is 33 miles this year and extends from Bull Run Marina to
just south of Port Charlotte (FH), with the start _and_ finish line
again at Fountainhead. He thinks we would need a relatively small crew
covering the following 4 locations: Bull Run Marina, Fountainhead Upper
Parking lot, Port Charlotte, and the NVRPA boat out on the water. Those
of you that have done this before will know these places well!

If you can come out and help its a fun event and a good rehearsal for
the MC Marathon! The event runs from 8am until 5 or 6pm. We'll need to
be there about 7am to get coordinated. We can accommodate people's
schedules if you need to come late or leave early. Of course you will
get a t-shirt and pizza is provided at the finish line. You might want
to bring a bag lunch or some snacks to get you through the afternoon.
Due to the terrain this is mostly a 2m mobile rig event with some
opportunity for HT use around the Start/Finish line. VQ staff usually
uses FRS radios so if you have some they can come in handy as well.

Shawn Stokes, KA3RQR, and the crew from Dunn Loring Volunteer Fire and
Rescue will be there again this year as well.

Here's a link to a map of the park.

Email me at kd4lqs at arrl.net if you can help out.

Thanks and 73's.
Mike
