I've tried to send this out twice, but have not seen it on my inbox. If you
get this more then once, my apologies

The next club meeting is this FRIDAY OCTOBER 10th at the Fire Training
Center at 7:30 PM. Many of us meet at the Chicken Out Restaurant at about 6
PM for dinner prior to the meeting.
OCTOBER MEETING (Tomorrow evening)
I've asked our resident AMSAT guru, Jim N8OQ to provide us an update on
Amateur Satellites.
We also need to nominate a slate of officers for next year. If you do not
attend you may find yourself nominated!
The December dinner is coming up quickly. Mango Mike's was good but they
are booked on Dec 12th. Sandy has checked with Red,Hot and Blue. Estimated
cost per person is $27. Both Sandy and Deanna are tied up and we need some
help with setting up the dinner.
Please come out and support your club. The more folks we have the more fun
the meetings are.
SEPTEMBER MEETING (History)
Our program at the last meeting was Howard, WD5DBC, who is the lead amateur
for the Marine Corps Marathon and also our ARES District EC. His talk about
how the effort is organized and how the race operations are run was an
interesting view that most volunteers dont see. For most volunteers its a
few hours to prepare their gear and a day at the race. For folks like
Howard its 6 months of effort to make sure amateur radio provides a very
professional product to the Marine Corps and the runners.
Our TECH-GENERAL classes have started and are going well with 12 students.
Tim KT4MV started off with a great class in electronics fundamentals.
Our D-Star stack has been humming (or hamming) right along with stations
from all over the world coming in and available to those with VHF/UHF D-Star
radios. IF the sunspots don't come back soon, this may be the next form of
DX.
PUBLIC SERVICE EVENTS
We had two events this last month. Venture Quest, Mike KD4LQS, Shawn,
KA3RQR, Rick, N4ASX and Richard KI4AJL participated. The MS Walk was also
done two weeks ago and Rick, N4ASX volunteered.
Marine Corps Marathon - OCTOBER 26th
We can use a few more volunteers, but we have enough to make it work. IF
you can volunteer, call Rick, N4ASX at (703)317-9305 and go to
www.ncacdc.com and sign up.
The briefing will be held at the Armed Forces Retirement Home on the 18th.
More info on that will be sent to volunteers.
CITY DRILL at GOODWIN HOUSE.
I desperately need about 4 volunteers with mobile or handheld VHF radios to
support this short City Drill. I've sent out the information separately.
If your not a first timer for the MCM and can support, please let me know at
the meeting or by phone.
Look forward to seeing you at the Friday's meeting.
73 Rick
N4ASX
