My beloved ham friends!
I recently received in the mail the official beautiful straight from the FCC *license* four our new sub-club "The Alan Wormser Memorial Morse Code Warriors!" The georgeous new call sign is KJ4DLX! How awesome is that!!?!?!?! :)))))))))
Ian and I are the officially responsible parties, and if you'd like another copy of the governing documents I sent out many moons ago, I'll be happy to.
As our first official stunt... er... event, we are attending the Dayton Hamvention! I'm going, and I know some of y'all are going. I'm going in "official" capacity representing the code sub-club in that I got myself a hat and a T-shirt with the name and call sign of the club embroidered on it. I also got a small run of printed pens to hand out with the name, call sign, and the URL for Alan's Memorial Blog on it. I hope to set up a web page for the club, but since I haven't yet, I'm using the blog that has sat unblogged for at least a year. That URL is www.alanwormser.blogspot.com.
I did attempt to get some kind of table or forum organized, but the hamvention staff never returned any of my many emails. So, I'll be wearing bright orange with a white hat wandering around the Hamvention looking for people who like morse code and/or knew and miss Alan.
To that end, I do have one cool trick. I'm bringing the practice code key that Alan gave me, and I'm going to have a few funny phrases prepared for me to "send" on this practice key (it beeps). Anybody interested in playing this game with me can try to tell me what funny phrase I'm sending, and they get a pen if they get it right. Given that I'm very slow, I should be giving out lots of pens. ;)
If anyone has a suggestion of some family friendly funny phrases that would be cute at Hamvention, please send em my way!
So, rock on with the code, and come find me at Dayton! You're all welcome to call my cell phone (317) 501-2780.
