I know you'll get this again and again, but wanted to get the word out. If
you ARE interested, you can sign up on the National Marathon website. I
sent my input both to the website and to Jack.

soooo sorry to spam you again but I seem to have messed up sending this
message.
----------------------------------
Hello everyone. My name is Jack Gunther and I'm an amateur operator in
Washington, DC, active with Arlington County's ARES. This is the third year
that the National Marathon and Half-Marathon will be run in Washington, DC,
area. We've had great success supporting this event in the past and they
are hoping that we can expand our support this year. The National Marathon
is scheduled for Saturday, March 29.

http://www.nationalmarathon.com/

The Race Director has reached out again to the metropolitan area Ham
community to help with emergency communications support for the event. We
are seen as a critical element to the success of the race. We need Net
Control stations, Aid Stations, some logistics stations, shadow operators,
and ideally some bicycle mobile operators to shadow lead runners. We're
looking for at least 25-30 operators for this event.

I especially hope that we can provide a digital capability (i.e., APRS). I
don't know much about those modes and hope that someone can provide that
expertise.

We'll be operating from approximately 6:15am through about 2:00pm on
Saturday, March 29, 2008.

I have volunteered to coordinate this effort and look forward to working
with the local ECs, DECs, and ARES/RACES volunteers.

I hope that you can help out on March 29.

It is best to sign-up directly through the Marathon's Volunteer Web Site:

(Select Ham Radio)

You can also contact me at: JackGunther at Earthlink.net or KB3KKY at arrl.net I
need to know the following:

1.	Name
2.	Call Sign
3.	Available Freq's: 2m, 220, 440
4.	Modes: FM will be our primary mode
5.	Alternative Power capability
6.	Preferred telephone contact
7.	T-Shirt Size

I will provide more information, and operations plan, etc. as the time grows
near.

Thanks again, and 73! de KB3KKY
