AxCERT 615 Drill
Rick,
On April 26th Alexandria CERT will be conducting a training exercise to test
the preparedness of our teams. The exercise will take place at the John
Adams Elementary School. This is an invitation to Alexandria ARES to
participate and provide auxiliary communications for the exercise. The exact
starting time has not been established but will be in the morning around
9:00 a.m. Ax CERT teams who are acting as first responders will be required
to arrive well in advance of the exercise to be briefed and also receive a
safety briefing.
In order for the auxiliary communications to function we will need at least
6 operators. Three will be needed on site to shadow the Incident Commander,
First Aid and Transportation functions. The other three would be a net
control, an operator at the EOC and an operator at Ax Hospital. The EOC and
hospital are fictional locations and the operators would not have to
physically be at those two locations. The NCS would be off site as well.
Entry to the site of the exercise will be under strict control by deputy
sheriffs and only first responders and victims will be admitted to the
disaster site and assembly areas.
The major requirement for your participants will be to present evidence of
completion of IS-100 Introduction to Incident Command. This program can be
found of the internet at www.nimsonline.com. After completion of IS-100 a
certificate will be issued by the testing group in pdf form. Please forward
a copy of this certificate to me prior to the exercise.
As part of the exercise we will be passing traffic to individuals outside of
the incident site. Please be prepared to use the ICS form ICS-213 to record
traffic. Completed traffic forms should be turned after completion of the
exercise.
For the purposes of the exercise Ax CERT will be the served agency.
