Here are the steps for registering as a new user of the D-Star Gateway
(W4HFH):
1. Go to this url: http://dsync.dstarusers.org/GW2Status.pl .
2. Scan down the left side and locate "W4HFH". Click on that link. You may
get some pop up boxes regarding certificate issues. Acknowledge them and
continue.
3. A web page will appear with "D-STAR Gateway System (W4HFH)" at the top.
Go down the page to the "New User?" section and click on the "Register".
4. Fill out the requested information. Make sure your CALL SIGN is UPPER
CASE.
5. Click on the submit button. What happens next is the administrator
(currently me) will approve the applicants for use of the gateway. I'll try
to check the admin page for pending users as often as I can.
6. After I've approved you, go back to the URL
http://dsync.dstarusers.org/GW2Status.pl and once again access the link for
W4HFH. (This going back to that particular link is due to the fact that we
have a dynamic IP address that does change over time.)
7. This time, in the section for "Already Registered?" enter your CALL SIGN
(UPPER CASE) and password you created when you registered.
8. On the page that appears, click the section of the bar that is titled
"Personal Information".
9. Your call sign should be shown eight times. Put a check mark on the
first line by clicking on the leftmost box of your call sign next to the
number 1. Next, go into the box with the heading "Initial" and put a space
there. DO NOT check the box labeled "RPT". Lastly, under "PCNAME" put your
call sign in lower case. You do not have to do anything to the other 7
lines--you only do this to line number 1. After you have entered the
information, click on the "Update" button. A "Are you sure?" box will pop
up. Click on that, and you should get an acknowledgement that it was
successful.
10. You are now fully registered on the W4HFH gateway. Remember that to
use the gateway, you will need to have the letter G in position 8 of the
"RPT2" field of whichever D-Star radio you are using.
You can see what the status is of the different gateways running the G2
(Gateway software version 2) by going to:
http://dsyncg2.dstarusers.org/index.php . This page shows that the gateways
currently synchronize with the K5TIT server every 15 minutes, and also show
what key processes are currently running (httpd, dsipsvd, etc) and the
associated process number for that activity.
I'm hoping to put the DV Dongle gateway software up soon, and also the newer
version of DStarmonitor when it is released for G2.
Any questions, send me an email. There are probably still some glitches here
and there, but we'll work through them the best we can.
Marshall
