Dear Alexandria Radio Club and Friends,

A while back at the Berryville Hamfest somebody talked me into taking an
antique Tube AM/FM Radio, with an early stereo record turntable in a wood
furniture chassis home with me. I never fixed/replaced the string for
turning the tuning coils, but the amp seems to power up & hiss. I'm
guessing it's from the 1950's since it can play stereo LP records, but
only has a mono FM radio. I found a website that lists a September 1956
review of it: http://www.roger-russell.com/magrevhf.htm Click on 1956.
The turntable arm only seems to need to be screwed back on. This unit is
looking for somebody who can fix it properly [or just loves to tinker
with such things], and give it a good home in their home. In my one
bedroom condo, it's taking up room in my living room with other stuff. I
got too much stuff! Besides, I already have a functioning tube AM/FM
Stereo, but with a broken stereo turntable cartridge, from the early or
mid 1960's in my bedroom.

The 1956? antique is a Model RC 121 Garrard, 16 watts, schedule no. 52850
{it might be 51850, but the print is small & I'm not sure if the 2 is a 1
or vice versa]. Unless you want to give me something for it, it's free
for pickup. There are companies I see on-line that will rebuild units
like the RC 121 for $160. Here's such a link:
http://www.theturntablefactory.com/pricing.html They list the unit as a
small chassis (not a big one). Restored, this would be a nice looking
piece in your living room. Another source for parts:

So, who would like to come by to 12 Ashby Street # A [cross from the
dumpster in rear parking lot off of Commonwealth, or from small parking
lot on Ashby Street side], Alexandria,VA 22305-2817 and pick up an
antique AM/FM radio and stereo turntable? I can help you load it
onto/into your car or pickup truck. Since the reflector wouldn't accept
images (in html e-mail format), I'll e-mail jpg pictures of the unit on
request.
