[Alexandria Radio Club Reflector] ground spike/stake

That's an option - would still need to cut it down. This piece is for
support, not RF ground. I want to be able to pull it out with reasonable
ease and I want the feedpoint close to the ground. So a 12-16" length will
be ideal. A 3/8x24 hamstick adapter goes on the non-pointy end and my 160m
hamstick goes on top of that. Similar to my FD antenna. A lot of radials
will be necessary. Minimum of 32 at 0.1L or longer. Since the radials are
not elevated they don't have to be 0.25L.

Ian,

How about a shorter ground rod. The RF Connection sells 3 foot ground rods.
