James,
I am truly sorry that your opinion of the Alexandria Radio Club is =
that low. Some of us have invested a great deal of our time and effort =
in trying to make the club a good club. I guess maybe we fell short =
despite our best efforts. I did send you a response but not through the =
reflector. You are welcome to give me a call and we can discuss the =
problems or not.
Yes, in all hobbies we have people we like and dislike, I know very =
few people in any group who can say they never met a man (or woman) they =
didn't like. =20
The club has about 50 members of which about 30 are more or less =
active. Most actions are done by the consensus of the whole club. At =
all of our meetings there is some good natured cuts at one another. Hal =
KC4ZYP and Bob KI3O do take a fair amount from me and I do get a few =
shots in return. =20
Hal pointed out that I was a "little crumbly" on Parade Day. Gee, =
could it be that I had no idea if I had the people to do all that was =
desired by the parade folks, could it be that I had taken two falls on =
the ice, could it be that Hal was talking while I was trying to provide =
a brief on the activity? No excuses, but yes some of us get a little =
short at times. This is not confined to ham radio, but in many groups =
that provide public service, you can see some people that are less then =
cordial at times.
Ham Radio can be a blast, but one must understand that you will meet =
and deal with people from across the spectrum. Some are wonderful, some =
are self centered, some are an absolute pain in the tail. If you chose =
to get into Ham Radio, be prepared to take the good with the bad. The =
average is good, but there are mean people, and poor operators as well =
as great people and great operators. Sometimes a little tolerance goes =
a long way.
As for my actions, I'm always open to corrections if they are meant =
to be helpful.
