Jack,
Your first QSO (contact) in the contest is your #1, second QSO is #2, etc.
But your 1st might be his 42nd and your 2nd might be her 6th. So you need
to keep track of your QSO #, your current county or independent city, his
QSO #, his county or independent city - for each QSO. Andy's software makes
this easy!
I'll conduct a short practice contest after the Thursday net - that will
clear stuff up. I'm copying all my favorite contesters on this so I expect
some check-ins!!

weekend
Ian,
My first QSO, so this dumb question: What is the QSO number? Of course, how
do I get it. Should these numbers be in my log?
I have to work mobile, 2 meters. May try 6. Should I do everything USB?

The Virginia QSO Party starts this Saturday at 1pm local and runs until
Sunday night at 9pm. Lots of fun, especially for new Technicians since
there is plenty of FM activity on 146.58 and 446.0 MHz (also 223.5). See
the rules at http://www.qsl.net/sterling/VA_QSO_Party/2006_VQP_Rules.html.
Hope to hear lots of folks on.
Andy WV8AA has written a great logging program just for this contest - takes
care of all the scoring. All you have to do is work 'em! Get it at
http://www.lastnamesoftware.net/. If you have any questions, write or call.
